Andrew Knight (University Safety Adviser, University of Brighton) has been appointed by USHA to chair a Special Interest Group (SIG) on Safety in Fieldwork within the HE sector. The group has representatives from Universities of Bristol, St Andrews, University of Manchester, London School of Tropical Medicine, Imperial College London and the Royal Geographic Society. The first task of the group is to revise UCEA guidance on Safety in Fieldwork in light of the new British Standard 8848.
"The group has met several times with a view to mapping the requirements of BS8848 onto the UCEA guidance on Safety in Fieldwork. We are currently on schedule and hope to produce a draft document for consultation in June 2009" Andrew Knight (SIG Chair). For further information regarding the group, click here.
