Consultation on the revised UCEA/USHA Safety in Fieldwork HE sector guidance

This page has been setup to provide you with all of the information and forms you need to actively participate in the consultation process on the sector guidance.

The HE sector guidance on Safety in Fieldwork (2005) has been updated to align with good practice from BS8848 and the revised document separates out core actions from good practice.  A series of case studies are included to indicate good practice.

Consultation period
The consultation period runs from 15th February 2010 - 15th April 2010.   All comments will be responded to by the Special Interest Group and a summary of the groups responses will be uploaded to this webpage.

Your input is welcome
The Special Interest Group invites you to submit your good practice case studies for consideration and also photographs of fieldwork good practice. 

Who can participate
The Safety in Fieldwork Special Interest Group invites USHA members and others to comment on the newly revised sector guidance.  Comments are especially welcome from:

  • Heads of Health and Safety
  • School Safety Advisers
  • Academic staff involved in fieldwork
  • Vice Chancellors and senior staff
  • Administrative support staff involved in fieldwork planning
  • Researchers
  • Fieldwork steering group within your institution
  • USHA regional groups

Submission process
All comments and good practice case studies must be submitted on the comments form here (note - submissions made by e-mail or marked copies will not be accepted)
