Title:
Greening the STEM
When:
28.04.2009
Where:
University of Bradford -
Category:
Seminars

Description

Free events on sustainable laboratories that have been organised for academics, managers and technicians in laboratories. All feature Allen Doyle, founder of the award winning LabRATS initiative in the University of California, and have been organised by the HEFCE-funded Higher Education Environmental Performance Improvement (HEEPI) project.

This is mainly aimed at academics and focuses on greening the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and medicine) curriculum. The morning session examines current practice, and the afternoon session examines opportunities to use laboratory operations as a mechanism for teaching and learning about sustainability (e.g. HVAC systems as engineering case studies; experimental chemicals as a route into teaching green chemistry and life cycle assessment).

Details can be found and bookings made at www.eventlink.org.uk.

You may also be interested in presentations from events earlier this month on sustainable laboratory design, which can be downloaded from www.labs21.org.uk
