Welcome to the Fire Sub Group Meeting Archive
1st & 2nd of July 2009 Surrey University in Guildford Meeting Documents Rob Ellligham's Presentation (Powerpoint document) Disabled Self Evacuation by use of Lift University Fire Safety Training
Some feedback "Great 2 days. I would suggest an interim one day meeting say in November to keep the impetus going.
Thanks for your efforts in organising the event. "
Bob Armstrong University of Nottingham "Just a quick note to say that it was good to finally meet the people on the end of the e-mails as this was my first chance to attend the Hasnet-Fire Group meeting. I found the seminar very interesting and probably, like most of you, came away with some handy 'Cherry Picked' ideas. It was also good no hear that others experience the same problems and are pushing to overcome the intransigence of Senior management. Thank you to John and Karen for the organisation. Look forward to the next one."

"This was a most useful meeting. It would have been worth attending for the use of lifts session alone. Case studies are particularly useful, in the case of London Met it was interesting to note that Exeter Uni had a fire caused by hot work on the roof and similar lack of fire extinguisher provision. I am a sure of 'forums' for other groups to which I belong and find them much better than HASNET. The topics all being linked makes argument much easier to follow. You don't need to keep e-mails in a personal archive to ensure you have good access to them. I don't find HASNET archives easy to use. I look forward to seeing some interesting forum discussions - I may even start some! Accommodation was a bit basic, but for one night I did not mind. The distance between accommodation and the seminar rooms was a bit far - only because of my mobility problem. Could have been a bit wet getting back to accommodation if there had been rain! I know that there was a suggestion of going North for the next meeting - not a problem for me. The Chancellors Centre at Manchester Uni is compact, high quality accommodation and all under one roof. ISTR use it. In the South 'Blackhorse House' at Reading Uni Whiteknights campus is similar, with high quality en-suite and seminar rooms under the same roof. I have stayed at both of these places several times. Using city centre campuses (London, Leeds, Bitmingham, Bristol etc) would allow those wanting a bit more class to stay in hotels and those on limited budgets to use the uni accomodation."
