Advance Information

The USHA Conference and AGM, to be held in Cardiff, is being organised by the Welsh Region Group.

The theme for the conference will be "Health and Safety Management Systems in the real world" and there will be two main threads through the program, one focussed on the application of a management systems approach and the other more specifically focussed on applying this approach to the management of health and well-being following the Dame Carol Black report.

We are very pleased to announce that Dame Carol Black has agreed to speak at the conference and we are currently putting together a programme which we think you will find both interesting and thought provoking.

Day three is traditionally one where we encourage internal presentations on good practice.

For this conference we are particularly interested in practical examples of applying key elements of health and safety management systems (e.g. policy or management standards implementation, systems for monitoring and auditing, emergency planning, introducing software applications etc etc) or alternatively approaches to implementing health and well-being plans/strategies.

So if you have any achievements, good practices,  projects etc you have been involved in and feel are worth sharing with others please let Mike Salmon know (SalmonML@cardiff.ac.uk).

The conference itself will be held within the main building of Cardiff University and the banquet dinner will be in the splendid Grand Hall of the Welsh National Museum with access to its art galleries housing great works by Monet, Renoir, Cézanne, Degas and Van Gogh which you will be able to savour over pre-dinner drinks. For a quick peak at the museum venue click here.

We hope to launch a conference web site and send out booking arrangements during the latter part of September and we envisage that the fee options will include an all inclusive package of conference, dinner and hotel accommodation (with an early bird price), a conference/dinner rate with book your own accommodation, and a day delegate rate for the Tuesday.

A conference Flyer can be found here
